Weed Science

The Weed Science Program area of focus includes agricultural and invasive weed control (chemical, mechanical, cultural, and biological control), weed ecology, weed monitoring and forecasting, vegetation restoration, and integrated control strategies.

There are many informational resources available to learn how to combat weeds.  One of the most useful is UC Pest Notes found at the Weed Research and Information Center.  This site also has links to weed photos, weed control and herbicide information, and books and publications.

Weed Science Society of America promotes research, education, and extension outreach activities related to weeds.  Their website includes links for weed identification and weed management tools.

Western Society of Weed Science coordinates efforts in weed management among various states and agencies, fosters and encourages education and research in weed science, and supports solutions to weed problems.  Their website has a link to on-line lessons about herbicides.
